School visits and group travel made hassle-free with Windermere Lake Cruises & the Lakeland Motor Museum
Published: 29th April 2019
Windermere Lake Cruises is making group travel and school trips more hassle-free than ever before, thanks to close collaboration with other nearby businesses on combined discount offers – as well as taking care of the finer details like transportation between sites.
In efforts to make visits by large groups and school parties as easy as possible for organisers, Windermere Lake Cruises has taken further steps to strengthen its relationship with education providers and group excursion companies with its ‘Transport Trio’ offer, which includes a fun and educational visit to its sister-attraction The Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow.
Designed especially for coach parties and youngsters on unique school trips to compliment both the local educational and tourism offering, the Transport Trio discount offer includes a cruise on Windermere between Bowness and Lakeside, a shuttle bus to the Lakeland Motor Museum and a ride on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway for £16.50 per adult and £10.75 per child. In addition, for every ten Key Stage 2 children or every 6 Key Stage 1 children, a teacher can travel for free. The organiser of each adult group travel party can also enjoy the Transport Trio offer free of charge.
School parties can also enjoy goodie-bags and a fun quiz at the Lakeland Motor Museum, as well as stopping for refreshments at the extensive on-site café – which is more than big enough to cater for large groups of all ages. Bespoke itineraries can also be arranged, so the whole trip fits in perfectly with the needs of each individual group.
Windermere Lake Cruises is a 3x finalist at the British Coach Tourism Awards for its work to accommodate coach parties and their drivers, winning top honours twice in recent years. The Lakeland Motor Museum also boasts an extensive, free car park with more than enough room for multiple coach parties with a shuttle-bus service which transports visitors between the museum and Windermere lake, at Lakeside.
Meanwhile, several more award-winning family attractions near the shores of England’s biggest lake are also accessible by boat and help to achieve Windermere Lake Cruises’ goal of encouraging more visitors to leave their car behind and to choose more sustainable methods of travel instead.
Other combined ticket offers include with the Lakes Aquarium, The World of Beatrix Potter and Treetop Trek at the Lake District Visitors Centre, Brockhole. The launch of Windermere Lake Cruises’ summer 2019 timetable also saw the addition of a new service to and from the Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories.
Sales & Marketing Director Jennifer Cormack, says, “Demand is rising for unique group experiences and school trips; and collectively the business community here recognises that. Each attraction we work with offers a unique experience which, when combined, will create lasting memories and should encourage further visits. Teamwork between us and other like-minded businesses means visitors of all ages – whether they are school children or adults, can experience more educational opportunities and enjoyment for less money and we’re delighted to be able to support that. We’re always happy to talk to schools about their plans and hope to welcome more groups very soon.”
