Popular visitor attractions join together to offer special deal for locals

Local people travelling on Windermere Lake Cruises can now discover an incredible underwater world for less, after the Lakes Aquarium joined one of Cumbria’s most popular residents’ discount schemes.

Around 18,000 people living in the CA and LA postcodes (covering all of Cumbria and much of North Lancashire) are currently signed up for Windermere Lake Cruises’ free Residents Passes. They already provide 50% off scheduled sailings from 1 October-1 May annually, as well as 20% off during the summer months.

Now anyone who shows their Residents’ Pass at the Lakes Aquarium can get 30% off entry to the attraction all year-round. That means passengers can step off a majestic steamer or ‘waterbus’ at Lakeside and go straight from the quayside into the Aquarium to enjoy the special discounts reserved only for local people.

Visitors to the Aquarium will enjoy stand-out freshwater displays, including a spectacular underwater walkway complete with diving ducks. They can watch resident otters play, see some coastal sharks, meet some cheeky marmoset monkeys or even come face-to-face with baby dwarf crocodiles. Kids will also love the twice-daily ‘Meet the Creatures’ sessions (12.45pm & 2.30pm).

Windermere Lake Cruises’ Residents’ Pass also entitles card-holders to big discounts at other nearby attractions including the Lakeland Motor Museum and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
