Older Generation to enjoy 75% saving on the Lake District's most popular Tourist Attraction
Published: 6th March 2013
Pensioners Days launched for April and May 2013.
From Lancaster to Carlisle, Workington to Penrith, pensioners from throughout Cumbria and North Lancashire can enjoy a day out on Windermere for under a fiver this Spring,
On Fridays throughout April and May, retirees who are permanently resident within the LA and CA postcode areas are being offered the chance to travel on scheduled sailings with Windermere Lake Cruises at substantially reduced fares.
That includes a saving of £13.25 on 24 hour ‘Freedom of the Lake’ tickets, which can be purchased for £4.50 on these special days. All other boat tickets are just £2.50.
Each pensioner can bring one local friend, of any age, at the same price. They can also enjoy half price adult admission at other lakeside attractions, including the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Lakes Aquarium.
Nigel Wilkinson, Managing Director of Windermere Lake Cruises, says, “You don’t have to be ‘old aged’ to benefit from our Pensioner Days, as long as you can show proof of retirement. You can even bring one local friend, of any age, at the same price. So it really is a great way for different generations to come together and enjoy the lake without breaking the bank.”
The full dates for this Spring’s Pensioner Days are:
- April 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
- May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
Passengers may be asked to produce proof of residency, such as a utility bill or drivers licence. If they’ve retired early, they should also bring proof of retirement.
