Windermere Lake Cruises has unveiled the appointment of two new Directors for the first time in a decade. The news coincides with the twentieth anniversary of Bowness Bay Boating Co. purchasing The Windermere Iron Steamboat Company in May 1993 to form Windermere Lake Cruises.
We have confirmed that John Woodburn becomes the firm’s new Operations Director, while Andrew Simon is named as Finance Director. Both are long-standing employees and have progressed through the ranks of the company over a number of years. Mr Woodburn has worked for Windermere Lake Cruises for more than 35 years, while Mr Simon joined as a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) apprentice in 1998.
At the same time, Group Chairman Bill Bewley announced that Windermere Lake Cruises Limited’s owner, Bowness Bay Boating Co. Limited is changing its name to Winander Group Holdings Limited to better reflect the diversity of its business assets.
Mr Bewley says, “It is a momentous day for Windermere Lake Cruises. These new appointments are well-deserved and are part of our long-term strategy to strengthen our management team and ultimately safeguard our commercial development. Both John and Andrew have been chosen for their managerial and technical ability and will help ensure the business is well-positioned to drive forward for the future.”
“By chance, the news coincides with the twentieth Anniversary of Bowness Bay Boating Co. acquiring the Windermere Iron Steamboat Company, to become the company we know today as Windermere Lake Cruises. Therefore, the timing of this announcement has particular significance.”
