Jazz band “won’t take any prisoners” during final Summer Evening Buffet Cruise of the season
Published: 28th August 2018
It’s forecast there won’t be a cloud in the sky above the South Lakes this Wednesday evening, during what will be the final Summer Evening Buffet Cruise of the year for Windermere Lake Cruises - along with their resident onboard band, performing their highly-anticipated final gig of the season.
With a musical backdrop provided by ‘Trickle Charge’, 2018’s last Summer Evening Buffet Cruise will be held on August 29 with passengers invited to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Lake District, accompanied by freshly prepared food in a relaxed atmosphere.
With the skies above the lake forecast by the Met Office to be largely clear during the evening, passengers will be treated to a warm night of cool jazz throughout the 2 ½ hour cruise, with a witty repertoire and selection of mainstream jazz and tasteful pop.
The four-piece group has been entertaining guests during the Summer Evening Buffet Cruises for the last three decades; with this latest show marking their final onboard gig of the popular 2018 summer season.
Jim Morgan, Trickle Charge’s longest-serving member, says, “The last three months have flown by and we enjoyed every minute playing. Customers tell us how much they enjoyed the music and variety every night. We try to make sure everyone has a great time, whatever their age. The average age of this band is 74, but we don't take any prisoners and the weather’s looking good for dancing on the upper deck.”
Setting sail at 7pm, the final Summer Evening Buffet Cruise of the year will cover the entire length of the lake, treating passengers onboard the ‘steamer’ MV Teal to the perfect way to see out the summer holiday season.
But don’t take our word for it; One passenger wrote on TripAdvisor, “Wow. We have just returned from a fantastic evening cruise on Windermere. What a beautiful evening. The food was excellent, fresh and tasty and there was plenty to eat. Service on the boat was also very friendly and professional. Trickle Charge played familiar songs and had lots of people up dancing. Well worth the money and a fantastic night out.”
The Summer Evening Buffet Cruise will depart at 7pm from Bowness Pier 1 and tickets must be booked in advance. They can be purchased online here or by calling 015394 43360. All prices include the full lake cruise, live band, two-course buffet and tea & coffee.
Alcoholic drinks are also available for purchase from the fully licenced bar, while well-behaved dogs with an appreciation for good rhythms are also welcome onboard.
