A Christmas cracker of an offer for visitors to the Lakes
Published: 11th December 2013
Two of Cumbria’s most popular attractions have teamed up to offer visitors an early Christmas present – with big reductions on combined ‘car and cruise’ tickets over the festive period.
Combined tickets offering a return journey on Windermere Lake Cruises together with entry to the Lakeland Motor Museum have proved so popular during the main summer season (up 9% on the same period last year) that the special tickets will now be offered over the Christmas holidays too. With the exception of Christmas Day only, that means a bargain day out is on offer any time between Sat 21 Dec 2013 and Sun 5 Jan 2014.
The combined offer allows visitors to take in the iconic landscape of England’s longest lake with a relaxing cruise from the cosy confines of a Windermere waterbus. They can then head down memory lane to the Lakeland Motor Museum – the attraction’s unique collection of 30,000 exhibits (including 150 historic cars and motorcycles) have been carefully assembled over 50 years to reflect road transport developments throughout the 20th century.
A regular bus service will also be running between the Motor Museum and the quay at Lakeside, at the southern tip of Windermere, to coincide with scheduled sailings.
Managing Director of Windermere Lake Cruises, Nigel Wilkinson, says, “We know how stretched people’s budgets are – particularly at this time of year – so it’s great to be able to offer these special reductions over the Christmas period. Both attractions are open 7 days a week and are ideal if the weather outside isn’t so welcoming. A dedicated bus service also provides added ease and convenience.”
The combined tickets cost from £14.75 per adult (including a return cruise Bowness-Lakeside, entry to the Motor Museum and return bus transfer). Children cost from £9.00 each, while family tickets can be purchased from £42.00.
