25,000 people sign up for free Resident Passes
Published: 12th July 2016
The number of people signed up for Windermere Lake Cruises’ ever popular Residents Pass scheme has passed the 25,000 barrier for the first time. To celebrate the landmark figure, one lucky lady from Carlisle has been named as the recipient of the 25 thousandth pass and was treated to an evening buffet cruise on Windermere.
Residents Passes are valid for 5 years and are available to anyone living in CA or LA postcode areas, which covers the whole of Cumbria and a large area of North Lancashire. It is free to sign up and the passes can be used to claim significant savings on scheduled sailings and entry to other selected Lake District attractions.
Suzanne Pitchford from Carlisle had the honour of being named as the 25 thousandth recipient of a Residents’ Pass and was invited on board the historic MV Teal ‘steamer’ for an evening buffet cruise with her husband Richard.
She said, “It was a lovely surprise to find out I was the 25 thousandth person to sign up for a Residents Pass. It is entirely free, so it is a great money-saver. It’s easy to forget about some of the great attractions on our doorstep, so it’s definitely given us an extra incentive to get out more and enjoy more as a family.”
Residents passes claim up to 20% off scheduled sailings in the summer months, and 50% off in the winter (from 1 October 2016 - 1 May 2017). There is also a 20% reduction on the cost of twice weekly Summer Evening Buffet Cruises up to Wednesday 20 July 2016.
There are additional discounts at other Lake District attractions including the Lakeland Motor Museum, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and the Lakes Aquarium throughout the year.
To apply for a Residents’ Pass, download an application pack, call Windermere Lake Cruises on 015394 43360, or visit any ticket office. (Proof of permanent residency in a CA or LA postcode area will be required).
Under 5s already travel free and well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
