Suggested Itinerary for the Fell Foot Ferry
Located at the southern tip of Lake Windermere is the National Trust-operated Fell Foot Park. National Trust members can park there free of charge – but why not get there by boat with our Fell Foot Ferry service? With no less than 14 services from Lakeside pier each day, there’s never been a simpler way to get there… You could even combine your day out at Fell Foot with our suggested Yellow Cruise itinerary to take advantage of attractions at Lakeside too.
10.30am:
Take the first of our regular scheduled services from the Lakeside Pier, for a short, ten-minute hop over to Fell Foot Park on the opposite side of the lake. Be sure to pack a picnic and a blanket, because there’s plenty to keep you occupied for the whole day!
10.45am:
Upon arrival at Fell Foot, make your way along the shore and head towards the boathouse by the café where you can watch a short interactive video of Fell Foot's Victorian history. From there, you can follow a 1.6 mile trail around Fell Foot Park, which serves as an ideal way of getting to know your surroundings and should provide you with inspiration on how best to take full advantage of the day.
12pm:
Boats, kayaks and paddleboards are available to hire at Fell Foot. Take a rowing boat out on the lake for up to an hour, or why not spend up to three hours exploring the water in a kayak or on a paddleboard? Of course, you can return to shore for a rest and a spot of lunch at any time to break-up the marathon session!
3pm:
If you have children with you, now would be a good time to let them burn-off some energy! With plenty of giant bushes to explore, trees to climb and an adventure playground to conquer, they’ll soon be tired-out while you are able to sit back, relax and observe during some well-deserved respite from an active day! It might even give you an opportunity to read that book you’ve been trying to get through…
5pm:
The final boat back across to Lakeside departs Fell Foot Park at 5.10pm – so be sure not to miss it. You’ll be back at Lakeside by around 5.15pm, where tempting refreshments await. You could use Windermere Lake Cruises’ café, or if you fancy a glass of wine, the team at the Lakeside Hotel & Spa would be delighted to welcome you into their conservatory overlooking the lake.
