Halloween pumpkin trail @ Orrest Head

26th & 27th October from 10am

Start at the Gruffalo at Orrest Head. Pick up your pumpkin trail map at the coffee hut and find all the pumpkins on the trail to spell out the spooky word. Wear your spookiest outfit and make sure to get a photo with the Gruffalo! The best-dressed entry wins a prize! 👻


£2 per entry. Proceeds go towards a new woodland sculpture.

Are you ready for a spooktacular Halloween? Join us for hot chocolate, gingerbread, and Halloween crafts in our cosy Learning Space. Children will have fun dressing up in Georgian costumes while learning about the Wordsworths and hearing some of their writing. At twilight we’ll all head over to Dove Cottage and listen to some spooky Cumbrian stories – perfect for a special Halloween in the Lake District!

Halloween folk tales at the Armitt museum

Monday 28th Ocotber @ 11am and 2pm

UK Storyteller Laureate Taffy Thomas MBE visits The Armitt to share spooky folk tales, play games and create Halloween crafts with turnips, apples and ghosties. Fancy dress is encouraged and expect to hear stories of the Ghost of Grasmere Gables, the Magic Orchard, and the Princess, the Ogre and the Star Apple.


Tickets: £10 per child and supervising adults enter for free.

Have a go at carving a spooky pumpkin this half-term at Allan Bank.

Join the team at Allan Bank and get creative with their pumpkin carving sessions.

They will provide the pumpkins, clear out the inside, and have all the tools you need to carve them. All you need to do is get creative, carve out a spooky design, then take your pumpkin home ready for Halloween.

Join us to for some spooky colouring, sticking and gluing and create a Halloween wreath to hang on your door handle and home!

This event takes place in our foyer. It is a drop in craft table with space for 4-6 children at a time. Please purchase your craft ticket on arrival at the Attraction.
